The dragonfly represents beauty and delicacy whilst signifying change and courage. Lofty goals for a wine I’ve toyed with making for a few years. Field blends are an old idea coming of age at a time of climate change and increasing interest in natural winemaking. This little dragonfly has a lot going for it and a lot going on.
Co-fermented in the way of the best field blends. Mown hay, and honey is what I smell. It has no residual sugar but a thick edge that leads you to the conclusion it is sweet.
Textural and layered. Restaurants love this type of wine – they fit with pate, bread, all things nice and customers who don’t like red. Why? Complex, soft, not too fruity, and is a wine that doesn’t require expectations or verbosity.
Drink now or maximum cellaring time 2years from now. That’s 2021
