About Lowe

Our winery specialises in small batch winemaking using innovative techniques. Our Mudgee vineyards are untrellised, unirrigated and certified organic / biodynamic. They produce low yields of distinctively individual grapes; one of four flag ship varieties being Zinfandel. We are leading the field with practical sustainable management in our vineyards and on our farm.

We Grow

Our fruit is grown on 4 sites in the region: Nullo Mountain (1100m), Rylstone (650m)  Mudgee Blue (450m) and the Winery vineyard at Tinja (500m). All four are now certified organic, displaying the diverse terrior of the region.

We Make

Our wines are the result of small batch, hands on processes. Find out how this makes the difference Here.

We Sell

You won’t find our wines at large supermarket chains. You will will them at our mudgee cellar door, some good restaurants, small bottle shops, and this website.

TWO DAY BIODYNAMICS PREPARATION MAKING WORKSHOP

 

Take part in the interactive workshop run by Hamish Mackay and Charlie Arnott surrounding the preparations and principles of biodynamics especially relating to farming and gardening practises.

CHRISTMAS DAY LUNCH

 

Join us for the Lowe, Zin and Pav Christmas Day lunch, this year to be held at ‘The Pavilion at Lowe’, featuring all your favourite food by Kim Currie and an eclectic range of cellar wines by David Lowe.

FRIDAY NIGHT TAPAS 

 

Enjoy your Friday evening with friends on the terrace at LOWE cellar door, with Spanish inspired food and your favourite wines by us. The 5 course shared tapas by Kim Currie can be found Fridays from January through April, so settle in with a glass, or bottle, as the long summer days fade across the hills.

Cost: Food $55 pp + drinks, bookings essential.

Wine Club

Three times a year we will send you a mixed dozen wines. We’ll make the selection, tell you the best way to drink, store and share these wines, and ensure you have a range of interesting notes if you should be one of the 2% of Australians who drink wine more than two hours after its purchase.

Vineyards

Mudgee’s red earth has long been known for its grape growing properties with a history of grape growing stretching back over 120 years. Our continental climate, with no influence from the sea we generally have hot days, cool nights and (usually) winter/spring rain with a long dry growing season. This leads to tremendous elegance and balance in the reds with a distinctive savoury character and finely structured tannins.

That’s one of the reasons you’re likely to see me at our Cellar Door.  I don’t want to tell you that it’s hand crafted or boutique produced or estate bottled, while it is all those things it is more important to me that it is honest and free of jargon and allowed to be – wine! Wine to be shared with friends and food and enjoyed not worshipped.”
