Tinja Wines
Mudgee and Orange
'Tinja' is the original Lowe family homestead which was built in Mudgee by Bobby Lowe in 1873. The homestead has remained in the Lowe family for five generations and proudly gives its name to the Lowe 'Tinja' range of wines.
The Lowe Tinja range of wines are made by David Lowe in his winery on Tinja Lane, from grapes grown on two of NSW’s highest mountains, Mount Canobolas in Orange and Nullo Mountain which overlooks the Bylong Valley, in the Mudgee GI.
The Nullo Mountain vineyard was planted in 1996 and sits at around 1100 metres in altitude. It is the highest vineyard in Mudgee, and with an annual rainfall of one metre, is fairly self sufficient. The resultant fruit draws its natural expression of flavour from its terroir, with limited intervention; no irrigation, and minimal handling.
The Orange vineyards, on the slopes of Mount Canobolas sit at an elevation of 1000 metres. These vineyards are characterised by long cool ripening seasons which allow for great depth of flavour and high natural acidity. The resultant wines are subtle, elegant and complex.
