2010 Tinja Orange Sauvignon Blanc
$20.00 AUD inc. gst > OUT OF STOCK |
A very refreshing sauvignon blanc which is low in alcohol. This wine delivers more complex varietal fruit, grapefruit like, with no residual sugar yet delivers softness from light oak maturation and wild yeast treatments. It has all the freshness and zing you would expect from a high altitude cool climate wine.
Reviews
Jeff Collerson, Daily Telegraph, January 2011
"This release confirms Orange's ranking as NSW's best sauvignon blanc area. Made from grapes grown on Mount Canobolas, this was given the complexity and richer texture through 25 per cent of the fruit being barrel fermented. Good with oysters."
Tony Love, Herald Sun, February 2011
"One of Mudgee based David Lowe's little babies, here out of the Orange district weighing lightly at under 10% per cent alcohol, with a touch of wild yeast and oak maturation and really expressing its grapefruit-to-lemon soul, crisp and refreshing with the impact of green herbs or grassier notes. This really is a little ripper with seafood platters.
David Bray, Independent Newspaper, February 2011
Tinja Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is from grapes grown on the slopes of Mount Canobolas, 1000 metres up. One quarter was barrel fermented with wild yeast and left on its lees for some months. It is the work of one of this country’s great winemakers, David Lowe, since 1987 at Mudgee. He says he was looking for “further complexity and texture which is what our customers are now looking for in this style”. Delicious, refreshing and low in alcohol at 9.8 per cent. $20.
