Lowe Wine Range
Organic Mudgee Reds
The Lowe range comprises four wines, the flagship Lowe Reserve Zinfandel and Reserve Shiraz and Merlot and Lowe Shiraz. These wines are all made from grapes grown on David Lowe’s estate vineyards which were planted in 1995.
Our Mudgee vineyards are all organic, having been converted in 2003. In the vineyard we use competitive biology, aiming to be completely chemical free in dry years and using half the organic standard of copper and sulphur in wet years. The goal is to lift vine health through soil health and complexity, and combat disease through an active and competitive leaf surface biology, crowding out disease causing organisms.
We have two Shiraz blocks in the vineyard. Both are organic, dry grown and untrellised and both show the distinctly different terrior in their wines, even though there are only 15 metres apart.
2010 Lowe Gentlemans Daughter Pinot Noir ChardonnayThe new Gentlemans Daughter is a traditional blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the cold climate region of Orange. The grapes, sourced from the slopes of Oranges Mount Canobolas and underwent secondary fermentation in the traditional method, followed by nine months on lees. |

2009 Lowe Bobby Lowe Sparkling Merlot OrganicMuch like David, Bobby was a community minded man. When, in 1863, he and his companion were bailed up by a local bushranger Bobby levelled a gun he happened to have with him, the contents of which he lodged in the fellows neck and breast, which proved fatal. * |

2012 Lowe Headstone Rose OrganicMade from organic Primitivo grapes sourced from the Lowe Block 7 vineyard, this is a genuine rose. Primitivo is the same as Zinfandel but is morphologically different in that the bunches are smaller and the flavours more dark. Our influence was Piedmonte for the style, subtle, lowish in alcohol (one of my recurring themes) 11.9%. |

2007 Lowe Reserve Shiraz OrganicViolet aromatics, a slightly funky edge and fabulous tannin framework with just a hint of stem. Slightly austere at first, the mid palate grows and grows on decanting. |

2009 Lowe Zinfandel OrganicDark ruby in colour, plum cake, liquorice and prune bouquet with a viscous, soft, lingering finish on the palate. Like all my Zinfandels, this is great drinking now, better in 2015. |

2009 Lowe Block 8 Shiraz OrganicThis wine shows a dark colour which is typical of unirrigated grapes. The area in which these grapes are grown, Block 8, generally produces a strong and powerful shiraz with fruit flavours of blueberries and licquorice with a nice soft oak undertone. |
