One of our best. Very dark and intense colour still purple showing youth and great potential to age. Fruitcake bouquet with a touch of vanilla spice tucked away from the French oak.
Youthful fruit dominated palate, plenty of tannin to hold the wine and the spine of Mudgee strength and colour to preserve the wine. Like the Shiraz cellar this wine with confidence until 2015, and watch the wine extend and soften.

Reviews
John Lewis, Newcastle Herald, November 2010
"Here's a nicely balanced, food friendly merlot from David Lowe. It weighs in at 13.5 per cent alcohol, is deep purple in the glass and has fruitcake aromas. Fleshy mulberry flavour shows on the front of the palate and Satsuma plum, cinnamon and dark chocolate fruit characters meld with savoury oak on the middle palate. The finish brings forth dusty tannins. Drink with: sauteed kidneys, curried lamb neck chops or braised beef cheeks with roasted garlic mash. Ageing: 7 years. Rating 4/5"
Tony Love, Daily Telegraph, February 2011
"Certified organic, unfiltered, rustic and honest, this merlot is all about dark plum compote with cinnamon again, but five spice edges as well. The fruit sweetness is spot on and the oak handling deft, its age just starting to bring on some leathery tones. It's very easy drinking and most desirable in its blackberry beauty. Food: Sirloin with red wine jus."
