2004 Louee Nullo Mountain Nebbiolo
Louee wine range
$25.00 AUD inc. gst > IN STOCK |
This wine shows the classic characteristics of rose petals, violets and forest floor with a delicately fruit driven palate and that classically bracing belt of acidity and tannin – a wine that shows the traditional great Italian flair!
Vintage Report
2004 was in the midst of the worst drought in a century, however with the reliance on the drip irrigation system, the vines were able to survive, if not thrive in the given situation. As Nullo Mountain sits at such a high elevation, it provides the perfect cool climate which suits the Nebbiolo variety. These berries had a high natural acidity so they weren't harvested until late May, the last of our varieties to be picked for the characteristics in the berries to balance.
Winemaking
Handpicked fruit was fermented in open vats in the traditional Italian style. The juice was gently plunged with hand over a warm ferment and then matured in 3-4 year old French oak for 15 months.
