Honed in the Hunter Valley and fine tuned with work in wineries from France to America, our wine style has remained traditional and low tech.

The Lowe reds are all grown on site, produced with the sustainable philosophy outlined at length in this web site and all under the Lowe label. Traditionally we ferment in open vats using such labour intensive techniques as wild yeast ferments, whole bunch fermentation and extended post ferment skin contact; anything to bring out the unique textures and flavour of each parcel of grapes. Wood used is large, usually puncheons or casks and fining and filtration before bottling minimal. Our reds just grow and grow in the bottle, latent wines full of flavour and expression and made to accompany food.
The Louee brand focuses on small batch, single vineyard wines. We are gaining recognition for our high country wines, having been awarded a number of trophies and medals over the past few years. The long, cool ripening of our fruit, along with our knowledge of the region and winemaking experience has proven to be a formidable combination.
Louee’s Nullo Mountain vineyard is characterised by its deep volcanic basalt soils and is surrounded by a spectacular landscape of sandstone ravines and rainforest gorges. The high altitude ensures an extended, cool growing season, allowing the wines to develop complex flavours and aromas, with a natural, fresh acid structure.
Although skilled cool climate winemakers Mudgee is not a place to grow the best Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Noir, apart from certain unique vineyards. Our Tinja range reflects the fruit that comes into the winery from some of the best vineyards in NSW and any thing that is made by us but not grown on site is bottled under this label.
The whites in particular reflect some of the best cool climate vineyards and our style is distinctive in its delicate handling of fruit. We are always seeking to work with the best fruit, using natural acidity and laborious pressing techniques resulting in wines that are aromatic, fresh and delicate; a challenging combination to achieve.
Every year we put down a number of cases of each wine that we believe will benefit and evolve in the bottle. These wines are tasted constantly in order to determine when they are drinking at their best.
