Lowe Food & Events

Kim lives in Mudgee with her partner David Lowe and looks after the food and events arm of Lowe Wines.  She also consults widely, broadcasts weekly on ABC Radio, is a Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Councillor and Chair of the 11 Sydney Royal Fine Food Shows.

Her background as a cook, caterer and restaurateur has shaped a career focused on supporting people who grow, make and share the products of a region.

Kim’s other skills and networks in regional wine, food, tourism and economic development have established her as one of Australia’s leading specialists in these areas. Recognition of her contributions has included:

  • Sydney Magazine Food Hall of Fame, 2011
  • NSW Rural Woman of the Year, 2009
  • Maggie Beer Award for Outstanding Contribution to Australian Food, 2006
  • NSW Restaurant & Catering Associations Award for Innovation, 2005
  • Best New Restaurant, RCA Awards for Excellence, 2004
  • Gourmet Traveller Jaguar Award for Innovation in Travel, 2003

A particular talent for creating and establishing innovative events has included Rylstone Street Feast, Mudgee’s Go Grazing, Canowindra 100 Mile Dinner and the NSW 100 Mile Challenge

Kim was Australia’s first Wine & Food Development Officer, at that time establishing Farmer’s Markets in Cowra, Orange, Bathurst and Mudgee.

Her Rylstone Food Store was a favourite haunt for locals, foodies and journalists - including then SMH reviewer Mathew Evans who chose the restaurant to celebrate turning 40.

In January 2006 Kim became Executive Officer with the newly formed Brand Orange organisation, creating a significant platform from which the development and promotion of this region flourished.

She is currently working with David to establish Lowe Food HQ, due for completion in 2014.
